August 2025 - Caribbean Rose, Inc., in conjunction with Neltjeberg Bay Enterprises, has made the difficult decision to cancel the 15th Annual Virgin Island Billfish Tournament for Haiti. Several factors beyond our immediate control have led us to make this decision. We understand that this may be disappointing news, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the past, including students and staff at the Ensemble Scolaire Pere Basile Moreau School in Port au Prince, Haiti, and the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on the island of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. As well as past and present sponsors. We hope to have your continued support throughout 2025 and beyond. Thanks to your donations, the Pere Basile Moreau Middle School was rebuilt after the devastating 2010 earthquake hit the region. We also work to improve and expand literacy programs and construct new learning environments for faculty and staff. With the new and repaired facilities and enhanced academic resources through investments in technology, health services, and other areas, there continues to be a great demand for admission. The leadership hopes to meet that demand and grow enrollment to further serve the local needy communities, where education is a beacon for a better future for the children and all of Haiti.
Locally, the Haiti Tournament also contributes funding to ensure that programs such as the Remedial Reading Program with a reading component for English as a Second Language are available to our Virgin Island students through Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School. Many students using this program had struggled in previous years, but after working with the program became some of the top students in promotional exercises.
