After a one-day delay due to weather conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Bertha, this year's Virgin Island Billfish Tournament for Haiti was a one-day shoot-out. We had ten boats competing for the prize. Seven (7) boats caught and released Marlins.
- First Place went to Fa La Me, releasing the first fish of the day at 8:55 AM.
- Second Place went to Goin Galt
- Third Place to Indigo.
The other participating boats were: Marlin Prince, Therapy, Gulf Rascal, Viva La Vida, Freebie, Reel Tight, and Cascadura. Click here to view a slideshow of the tournament.
Proceeds from the 2014 Virgin Island Billfish Tournament for Haiti assisted Pere Basile Moreau Secondary School with the purchase of technology and computer infrastructure and an exciting digital curriculum pilot. These will allow students to work at their own pace and aid teachers in having better data on student performance. Holy Cross Missions plans to study this pilot and see if it might be a replicable program in other Holy Cross schools in Haiti.
